Hello,

I'm heading to Arlington in a few days from (Raleigh, NC) and was wondering about the traffic. I'll be going to the Crowne Plaza hotel. Is traffic quite busy? If so, is there a particular time to travel when traffic is not that heavy? Thanks for your feedback.

What day or time are you going to Arlington from Raleigh? With Easter/ Spring Break weekend traffic will be terrible on 95N after about 11 or 12 through the late evening on both Saturday and Sunday- it can easily take 2 - 3 hours to get from Thornburg north of Richmond to the the Mixing Bowl interchange (395/ the Beltway) which is only about 60 miles. I'd leave very early or very late.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually traveling next Thursday (25th). I was thinking of leaving Raleigh around 10AM (since I can't really check into the hotel before 3PM).

You should be fine. Traffic will be heavy but largely should be moving minus an accident or road construction delays. They are widening the road and re-doing several interchanges in and around Fredericksburg/ Stafford.

Agreed. That should be a decent time for travel. As long as you aren't heading north between 7-10am or south from 3-7pm it should be smooth. Do note that the volume of traffic is much heavier during non-rush hour than Raleigh. Any weather event or accident can cause a backup at any time but there is no point of being afraid of what you can't control. Another note is that most hotels will let you check in early if there are rooms available.
