Looking for feedback from tenants of apartment complexes in N. Arlington (Ballston, Courthouse, Clarendon etc) who are living or have recently lived in apartment buildings that were relatively quite and pet-free. Specifically, which complexes generally offer a community of considerate pet-free people who behave like adult professionals. It seems many of the complexes have been overrun by noisy misbehaved people who let their animals urinate and $hit all over the place and seemingly forget that they live in a building with others and not in their own house.

I don't mind paying for a moderate to high end apartment but not to live with those who still behave like they are in college (or in some cases high school).

No guarantees, ever, on getting that quiet apt you want. You can get 100 good reviews on here for a great complex only to move in and find you have that one neighbor no one wants. Getting a good complex is always great but no one knows what kind of neighbors they will have until you've moved in.

Didn't ask for a guarantee. Just some input from those who live or have lived in buildings that are pet-free with generally respectful tenants. I'll calculate my own odds based on existing information.

If you do find a new building that is pet free, please let us all know. Every new high rise these days all seem to allow pets. Some places even promised people that they were renting on a pet-free floor only to renege on that promise by using the excuse that they have to fill those apartments with tenants. I guess that lots of people want buildings that allow pets.

And, yes, there are those who don't clean up after their pets. They tend to be the same people who don't abide by the rules for the trash rooms on each floor. IMO, these are the people who need to take adulting classes

What you need to do is find a building that's managed well. IOW, when you go to management with concerns and/or problems they take it seriously and act on it.

If you haven't yet done so, read online reviews of places you are considering.

You may have better luck renting from an individual condo owner. In my (limited) experience, condo buildings are generally quieter and better maintained than apartment buildings; other residents are more mature and considerate of others; etc. These are general statements and obviously there are lots of exceptions.

I agree with you and am exploring those options.

I have, and it's not a pretty picture but there are a few that look promising.

I learned the hard way that just because it says luxury in the title and you’re paying an exorbitant amount every month doesn’t mean you still won’t have obnoxious and inconsiderate folks, that’s just what comes with renting.

I agree with the user that said look at condos. There’s some outliers I’m sure but generally speaking they tend to be built better and some issues you run into with apartments you don’t have as much with condos.

The OP wants a pet-free building. As far as I know, most, if not all, condo buildings allow for pets.
