Do you own your own horse(s)? Or are you going to ride someone's else's horse?

There are some places to ride in Great Falls and may be some in the Reston or Oakton areas as well. Getting to those would be much better than either Leesburg, or anywhere in Aldie or beyond.

There are farms sprinkled around depending on if you do dressage, jumping, Western, etc.
I’ve seen them in Fairfax Station, Clifton, Great Falls, and more. I rode in Gainesville for a while, but man did that trek become a grind.

I remember when there was a stop light at the intersection of Route 7 & 123 in Tysons Corner. That was the only light in TC, Route 7 was a 2 lane road and the next light on Route 7 going west was in Leesburg. Times were simpler then.

I've often seen horseback riding from Leesburg to Purcellville and back on the gravel path next to the W&OD trail. It's a good long distance with little car traffic. I think there's a farm near Paeonian Springs, just north of Leesburg.

OP, check out the classified section of Virginiaequestrian.com. They list barns offering lessons, board, and lease horses. Good luck.
