Well let's summarize that commute:
- 15-30 minute drive to Manassas VRE
- 45 minutes on VRE train to Alexandria
- 20-30 mins to metro from there to Courthouse (2 lines so a change is included)
- Walk to office from Metro (at least 3 minutes even if the office is very close the Metro, I know from experience but could easily be more like 5-7 as well).
Total: between 83 and 112 minutes, or to be a little less fake precise - definitely over an hour, likely over 1 1/2 hours, possibly close to 2 hours.
Note that this will make you dependent on traffic to the VRE stop i.e. central Manassas and three separate trains running on time and without disruption.
The number one problem with this type of commute is the sheer number of movable parts. Every one of which has the potential to escalate on any given day.
