So, here is the question for all you in the know. Not new to NoVA myself by any means but am considering a potential new work location in Falls Church area with commute from Old Town. Having driven the route here and there but not regularly during your typical work hours, any opinions on what it would be like?

My guess is it would be going against the usual traffic flowing toward DC and then back out, so shouldn't be too bad. Anything I am missing here?

I understand the current COVID traffic pattern is highly likely skewed so looking for input with that in mind.

Appreciate any input on the topic.

Falls Church is a big area. What is it near? Do you mean Merrifield or City of Falls Church?

Good point. Will have to get the specific address as I am not exactly certain where.

Different ways to skin that cat. Rt 7 comes to mind. Doesn't sound that bad, and is almost a reverse commute. Even with traffic, 7 Corners to DC isn't bad, at all, compared to the suffering endured by most commuters.

From Old Town, I'd look into using the GW Parkway up to Spout Run and then cutting across to 66W

Copy. That is what Waze told me, given just the general Falls Church area address. Appreciate the info.

Got it. Suppose GW heading out of OT is somewhat a given then 50 or 66. Been a bit since I have commuted along 50. Guessing counter traffic ain't that bad, but then given weather, traffic lights, etc. still embrace the suck?

It’s been a few years since i was going that way all of the time, but i do remember that it didn’t suck. 50 gives you multiple ways in to FC while 66 limits you to only a couple ways. however, it’s nice having a choice of either route when something goes wrong on one or the other.
