I think it was 1996, about one week after Christmas, that we had a big snow of about 3 feet over a weekend. Schools closed on Monday and announced on Tuesday that they would be closed through Friday.
I moved here from NE Ohio in 1993 and would love to have at least one big snow this winter. Compred to NE Ohio, we get many more sunny winter days here. At least here, on a cold day, the sun warms up my car.
If/when the power goes out - will you let us move in with you? LOL

Sure! The more the merrier!
I don't think we have lost power more than a handful of times in 16 years, and the longest stretch was 8 hours when Hurricane Isabel came through.
We have the fireplace AND the gas grill.

When Isabel came through, we only lost for about 12 hrs. - but in this neighborhood, some w/that hurricane and other storms were out for 3 days!

If you have forecast of say 30 degrees, is there a windchill that makes it feel colder than actual? Or is windchill just something that happens in more northern states?

There is a windchill factor if there is wind. That is true in any area. If there is no wind - the temperature feels like what it is.

They only talk about wind chill when it is windy. Like a few days ago. It was very, very cold--about 19 degrees but, it was also very windy, so we got reports of a windchill fact of 2 degrees or something line that. But you won't get a windchill reading every day in the winter, just when it is windy.

I think it was 1996, about one week after Christmas, that we had a big snow of about 3 feet over a weekend. Schools closed on Monday and announced on Tuesday that they would be closed through Friday.
I don't think we have lost power more than a handful of times in 16 years, and the longest stretch was 8 hours when Hurricane Isabel came through.
