Where exactly is Danville Road? Is it within one of Dale City neighborhoods that such as Ashdale, Birchdale, Hillendale...etc.???

If so, I would not move back to those neighborhoods. A LOT has changed. I wouldn't say that it is dangerous but is not great. My friend lives in the "K" neighborhood and has been there since the 80s. She hates it now.

I'm not a big fan of the "D" and "B" sections of Dale City. Just like a lot of places in "DC", it goes street by street as far as "good" areas go. PM me if you want to talk some more. Some on here get offended if you give your opinion on their neighborhood.

I'm also considering moving to dale city. I went to go visit some places near princedale and the area around it and wasn't too happy. seemed like there wasn't much to shopping nearby or anything. was wondering if all of dale city looks that way. also looking at lake ridge (which i LOVE) but the prices of dale city are much better. Is there any part of dale city that isn't soo.... cul de sac? Sorry if i high-jacked your post

Really, no. I would just avoid Dale City. The Princedale neighborhood is about at the end of Dale Blvd. If you keep going and turn right on Hoadly, and meander down that way you will hit a nice Harris Teeter and a new little shopping center. That's it. That area is way out of the way and has never been convenient to much. I can't think of one area in Dale City that I could recommend. Now, I do live in Dale City zip code but I am more down by Montclair and Rt. 234. That area is okay but, again, kind of removed from things. I would definitely bite the bullet and go with Lake Ridge.

I lived in Dale City for 20 years (grew up there) until I bought my first house about a week ago. We lived in the Princedale/Orangewood area. It's changed a lot in the time we've been there, and mostly gone down hill in a lot of respects. Our family still has really great neighbors on our immediate street, but a lot of the surrounding neighborhood is not as nice as it once was.

I still like the area and have seen it grow and change over the years through everything. It's pretty mixed with some nice spots, and some bad spots thrown in there. I'd recommend looking at the street and block you want to move in on and see what the neighbors houses look like. If things are kept up nicely, then it'll probably be a decent section of the town. There's a lot of good deals there right now as well, so the prices are a good buy for the region.

Coming to you LIVE from Dale City!

This is like any other place - good areas and not-so-good; good people and not-so-good. We're in the Nottingdale section. Within walking distance we have a nice water park (soccer field, baseball fields, basketball court), a small strip mall (Giant food, Subway, Chinese restaurant, day care, assorted small shops), a couple of gas stations with "convenience" shops, and on the other side of Ridgefield, an ice skating rink and a boys & girls club.

We have a bus stop at the corner for local trips (to the Chinn Center - gym, pool, library; Potomac Mills; etc.) and commuters as well (VRE; commuter parking lots; Pentagon; Crystal City; DC).

Short drive: Harris Teeter; Z-Pizza (love that place!); assorted shops; restaurants; banks. Longer drive (length of Dale Blvd): Wegman's - the best grocery store around.

Like many areas, it's a good time to buy in Dale City. It may be even better later in the year .... prices may still have a ways to fall, and interest rates (already VERY nice) may also fall some more.
