Just curious, are there generally good recycling programs in VA? Fredericksburg is where we are looking to move from San Diego, and we have a great program for all types of recyclables: mixed glass, plastic, paper, tin cans, aluminum. Curious if the environment is a city priority out there, it's so important to me, I hope so.

There are recycling collection points at the PWC county landfill. Also at one of the local libraries and a gas station, you can drop off bottles/papers/plastic bags etc. Not sure how Fredericksburg handles it though.

I just put all of my newspapers, magazines, flyers, glass, aluminum, cardboard and plastic in one recycling bin at the curb and they pick it up.

I just take my stuff to the local pickup points myself. Honestly I don't go through enough bottles or newspapers to really make use of weekly pickups.

I have no idea if PWC or Fairfax have pickup. I do know that in Maryland, PG and Montgomery do.

Don't know about Fredericksburg, but recycling is very big in Loudoun. Living green is a hot topic these days, for example Cascades HOA devotes half it's monthly newsletter to environmental issues (and yes, that includes encouraging people to recycle the newsletter!)

Yes, "they", as in the large recycling truck that comes around once a week. Kind of like a trash truck. This is in PWC and is included in the HOA fee.

Where in PWC? Not all the county has an HOA. Are you saying the whole county has recycling?
