I am asking for help in finding this person that stole my identity. He managed to open four credit cards (Lowes, Home Depot and Target) in Alexandria VA (route 1 area). An American Express/Costco credit in Manassas VA (Sudley Manor Road). All the credit cards were opened using the in store instant credit card. He managed to charge $18K on the weekend of 10-12 APR09. I received all credit cards and a denied request for a fifth this past weekend 17-19 APR09. I had to file police reports in Fairfax and Prince William County since each jursidiction investigates crimes in their respective areas.

Why don't you contact some of the local television stations? They could broadcast this picture on the news and find your guy. Gotta love Costco for putting pictures on their cards. I think this guy might qualify for the Darwin Awards...

Sorry about your situation and I hope it all works out for you. Don't forget to file a fraud report with the credit reporting agencies to freeze your credit.

I have been filing fraud alerts with the credit reporting agencies for the past few days and doing follow up calls to ensure all cards have been shut down. I am calling the TV stations today....

Good idea about the TV stations. And the newspapers too.

Yes, I have already filed with them as well. My ears are starting to hurt from all the phone calls I have been doing...

This can't help the original poster, but I recommend a credit freeze (http://clarkhoward.com/topics/credit_freeze_states.html - broken link) to prevent this.
