Well as an auditor I'll be splitting my time in roughly a 30% office/70% job site fashion. 30% of the time I'll be walking to work, but if it is plausible (and easier) for me to take mass transit to get to some of our clients, then this would still apply to me.

The only thing bad about the VRE is that you need a commuter pass to use it. I wish we could use it like the Metro - for occasional rides to/from Arlington and DC.

With a credit card, the VRE platform ticket machines will sell you a simple single-ride (one-way) or two-ride (round-trip) ticket. Some details here...

I will be commuting from Manassas but will be working weekends too. Can I use the benefits on the weekend?

The VRE does not run on weekends, unfortunately. However, if you have a SmarTrip card, you could load your benefits onto that for the Metrorail.

I would pick the VRE to Metro option hands down over driving to Vienna. Very rarely are the VRE trains delayed more than a few minutes, most times I don't even notice that we are slightly delayed. Your drive along 66 to Vienna would include traffic delays every day.
