I'm new to the area, I'll be working at the USPTO. I just saw Kings Gardens Apts. I didn't know how big the apartments are. I LOVE the walk in closet and its sooo close to everything and my job. The office people were very nice too. Any suggestions?

I would advise a different apartment complex, to be honest. True, it is convenient enough to Old Town Alexandria where the Patent Trademark Office is. The thing is that while the surrounding neighborhood on Route 1/Richmond Highway is improving in retail and restaurant amenities, the attitudes of many apartment residents still leaves something to be desired. For a similar rental range, you may be able to get into Belle Haven Towers further north towards Alexandria City. If a garden apartment is a must, I'd recommend (with slight hesitation) Mount Vernon Square next to the Safeway. IMO it is the best appointed property of the low-rises on the Route 1 corridor.

I'm with Tone on this one. Avoid Kings Garden if possible and look further North in Huntington or the West End of Alexandria.

I lived in Kings Gardens for 1 year. That was end of 1997 to end of 1998l. I didn't have any trouble there. Rt. 1 is not the nicest area. The apartments were pretty nice. (I had a 2 bedroom with den.) My downstairs neighbors would use a grill on his patio and the3 smoke and smell rose up to our place. I don't nw whether to recommend there or not, but we did fine there 10 years ago.

Default Belle Haven Towers is Nice

I lived at Belle Haven Towers (BHT) for 5 years, so I recommend that. Very quiet and family oriented. Not many amenities but the rent is reasonable and the apartments are big with a nice pool. Very close to PTO but apartments in the Eisenhower area are much more. It gets consistently high ratings in apartment surveys. I recommended it to my office mate and his wife and they liked it more than Riverside Apartments. I bought a house near there a few years ago. The Rte 1 corridor's reputation is improving. Look at what is being built around the area - 2 new hotels across the street from BHT, new apartments next to Huntington metro ,etc. This area is up-and-coming.

Okay that was 10 years ago. 10 yrs ago I was in middle school. I have friends who moved outta there this year and they were none too impressed with the experience. One time they had inlaws visiting and someone got shot or stabbed at one of the nearby resturants. I insist if u have other options avoid this complex.

I don't know if now is better or worse than 10 or 11 years ago. I just post my experience and leave it at that.
