Wow...that's harsh! I have to admit that I can drive better while talking on the phone than driving and dealing with my 4yo during tantrum moments. Should I leave her at home so as not to disturb you?

there were traffic backups on 193 this weekend from overflows at the roadside parking lots for the natural trails. on the way back from Maryland, we were subjected to another traffic jam because four fire & rescue trucks were pulling into one of these hiking areas near the falls. the population in this area is soon reaching the capacity of the area parks to handle.

That's quite a marginalizing of a traffic accident caused by inattention and distraction, and someone leaving their lane - "disturbing" someone.

You can ignore your 4 yo and let her rant, while you get on with driving and paying attention to the road. Driving while talking on the phone puts everyone around you at risk. Your argument is as good as saying you can drive better with a few beers in you than drive and deal with a screaming kid. I don't think we'd agree that driving under the influence is therefore safe.

And I speak as a parent who's driven on long trips with a screaming 2yo and 3yo in the back. You pull over to deal with her, or ignore her. She won't die, and neither will you.

I agree with the bumper sticker - hang up (or shut up) and drive!
