I agree. Condo will be much easier to find in that price range. And 2 bedroom townhouses aren't as common because the resale on them is limited. And a townhouse on metro lines will run more than that anyway.

Washington and its 'immediate' suburbs are serviced by metro. Unfortunately 60% of suburbia has to drive to work or drive to a metro station. Vienna is much more affordable than Falls Church and metro on the orange line to Foggy Bottom (George Washington University). Falls Church would be ideal. Arlington is the hip, cool, yuppie spot where people go home to dogs vs. children. There are some beautiful older neighborhoods in N. Arlington but those homes go for the 700's on up. Townhomes in Fairfax County are more affordable 500's and up. As far as renting a town home in Vienna/Fairfax/Dunn Loring/Merrifield; you may be able to find them in the price range of 1800 - 2400 per month.
