Could anyone recommend a good vet in the area? My poor little boston terrier seems to be having some gastrointestinal issues that have me pretty worried.

This happened a couple of weeks ago and we brought him to Fairfax Animal Hospital down in Bailey's Crossroads. They gave him some antibiotics which seemed to help for a bit, but the problem has returned.

The vet was really nice, but I had some worries about the facilities, the place looks pretty old. I'm just thinking if this turns out to be something more serious, I'm not sure I'd want him to stay overnight there or have surgery.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, I'm going to try to get him in somewhere tomorrow.

We see Dr. Reed Hall at Columbia Pike Animal Hospital in Annandale. They have a sister facility (Town and Country Animal Hospital)in Fairfax. They are open early (7 am, I believe). A friend (who is a veterinarian) recommended Dr. Hall. Alternatively, if you are in Arlington (?), you could go to Ballston Animal Hospital (where my friend works). If you do, ask to see Dr. Snow.

I'll second the recommendation for Town and Country. We were clients for several years and thought the care was excellent and the facility is probably about 7-8 years old now. Very nice!

Thanks for the suggestions. I made an appointment at Suburban Animal Hospital in Arlington. So we'll see how it goes today. They have great ratings on Angie's List, I know they're probably going to be expensive but cost isn't much of an issue when it comes to my dog. I hate that he's sick

I wanted a second opinion so we'll see what they say. Hopefully its nothing too serious and they fix whatever the issue is.

I take my dog to Suburban; I believe they are one of the less expensive in the area. I really like them. My dog always ends up with a younger blond female vet that he loves. The last time we took him was for intestinal problems and he had to stay for the day and he wasnt too distraught when we picked him up.
Ther is one lady in the front who really doesnt seem very friendly (or smart) but every one else is fine.

I brought my pup in yesterday and I believe he had the same vet as you, Treebw. It went pretty well and we got some more antibiotics and a special bland diet to help his stomach.

I got an overall good impression of the place, except for the girls up front. They seemed like they could pretty much care less about anything. In most vets' offices the receptionists are friendly and genuinely seem to like animals, or at least acknowledge them, here not so much.

But the vet and her assistant/vet tech were really friendly and nice, plus my dog loves just about anyone so its not too hard to please him.

Despite the receptionists, I would definitely bring my dog back again, but I'm hoping that I don't have to for a while.

I hope your dog gets better. I used to recommend Animal Medical Center in Great Falls Plaza (Sterling). I love the quality of care there--and still use them myself--but I no longer recommend them because they jacked their prices up. Way up.

Bummer about the receptionists. I only took issue with the one I mentioned earlier...maybe it was the same one.
I am glad you liked the Vet and tech...my dog loves them and that is really the most important thing.

Clifton Animal Hospital, Dr. van Linden, is a great vet. He has a small facility in an in-home office on Chapel Road, but they are truly wonderful people who work there.

Montrose in Fairfax is also a good facility, though their prices are not the lowest.

A good veterinary facility, though it's in an older building is Occoquan Veterinary Hospital in Woodbridge if you don't mind driving a little distance.

We use Town and Country and are very pleased. Dr. Terry Cheramie (male) is fantastic.
