I dropped my ring and a chip of fire opal fell out. I can send it back to the designer to repair but I want to explore less expensive options first.

I took the ring to the Eden Center, hoping a jeweler could fix it inexpensively, but no luck. One jeweler said Australian fire opal is hard to find in the U.S., and it would be very hard to match the color.

Has anyone had a good experience with a local jeweler? (I live in Bailey's Crossroads.) Thank you.

I've used Aspen Jewelery Designs in Herndon to re-shank my wedding ring a couple of times, and my husband has had some custom pieces made for me there. They are always great to work with. They even remember his name when he hasn't been in the shop in a couple years -- and it's not like we're frequent customers or anything. The service is always so good. Good luck.
