The other suggestion is to wear ear plugs when you sleep, maybe only in one ear (the other ear to the pillow in case there's a fire in the night and you need to hear the fire alarm).
I used a conair sound machine for my baby. I put it on the ocean sound of course

Where I live the blow the horns much more quietly during nighttime. Even after 8:00 at night there is a significant difference. We sleep with our windows open, too. I love hearing the crickets.

surely with todays modern technology there is a quieter method for the trains to warn the workers (i.e. quieter train horns or preferably: radio, mobile phone, or a temporary train traffic light or signl etc). implementing the quieter method(s) is something that needs to be done now and cannot be ignored, it needs to be resolved, they cannot be allowed to make that much noise that often when it is quite obviously unneccesary for it to be that loud. sometimes here I have to hear train noises 1 or 2 hundred times a day or more, I think the train drivers are acting childish, making the noise at other train drivers going past or something...

I find we sometimes need to keep the windows closed on the side of our house towards Hummer Road due to the noise of automobiles. They go by at midnight, even at 3AM. I think they are being childish, running their motors just to show they are there.

Is there anything the County can do to put a stop to auto traffic on Hummer after 10PM?

Grade Crossings

"Collisions between highway vehicles and trains have been, until recently, the greatest source of injuries and fatalities in the railroad industry."
