I have been wanting to move my son and I to Staunton but now I am looking at Warrenton due to the increased availability of medical assistant jobs. Plus the schools seem just as good. My son is in advanced math program currently. Any input or job leads please speak up!!

Warrenton will not have the jobs as compared to areas closer to DC. Or is that what you are referring to? Warrenton is certainly growing but the jobs won;t be as plentiful as Fairfax and other areas around the beltway. Are you willing to commute an hour or more for a job? This might be necessary if you live in Warrenton but you never know, you might luck out and find something in Warrenton or somewhere real close.

isn't Joe Jacoby's car dealership out in Warrenton?

Closed down unless they've moved elsewhere.

Warrenton would be good for you because of affordability. As far as jobs go, I don't see that as "the place to be". There's a new cancer center in Gainesville, which isn't all that far away. Maybe you could work there and live in Warrenton?

I have some jobs that are in Manassas and I think that is fairly close to Warrenton. I am also concerned about the schools there since my son is in advanced honors prog. already in middle school. What about the Staunton area. I expect to travel at least up to 25 miles for work. I would have to do that here in Indiana because we live in a very small town.

OP, there are some postings for a range of medical positions by Valley Health, rapidly growing in the Winchester area. Winchester is a little north of Warrenton but could provide that small-town feel you're looking for. Go to www.dcjobs.com. Look under "Winchester" and you'll see listings for Winchester, Front Royal, and some from Martinsburg, WV (nearby) and search with key words like "medical". I hope you find something and good luck!
