Hi all --

I'm moving into the estates section of Lowes Island this summer, and wanted to get a sense of how far the walk is to the nearest shops, grocery stores, movie theaters, etc. Is it a mile or two on the walking paths? Longer?

Also, how far is the drive to the closest stores? I understand that the estates section is not directly linked to the rest of Lowes Island by road. How long does it take to go around Seneca to the stores?

Thank you so much for your guidance! If you have any other helpful tips for a new resident, I would really appreciate it. :-)

Best regards,
Jen

The closest shopping is Great Falls Plaza at Algonkian Parkway and Lowes Island Blvd. Small strip mall with Bloom, some restaurants, a bank, several stores and a pre-school. I would not consider it walking distance to the estates, especially if you are carrying anything. The nearest movie theater is in the Countrysides shopping center, at route 7 and Palisade Parkway, about 5miles from Great Falls Plaza, again I would not consider that a comfortable walking distance. There is another theater in the Sugarland Crossing Shopping Center at Dranesville Road and Route 7. Again, not what I would consider walking distance either, but you can look these up on the site a previous poster gave you. You should be able to get this information from your real estate agent.

I agree! I live in Lowes Island also, but she's a walker, I'm not.

Agree! I can comment on the Cascades shopping area, anything along Route 7, and parts of Ashburn, etc. but not Lowes Island.

Default Normie?

Thanks guys. Normie, if you're out there, I'd love any info on the walkability of the estates area. If it's only a mile or two to the shopping center, that's definitely doable for me and the family. Otherwise, we'll probably be biking. :-)

Thanks for your input everyone!

Jen
