The tax was not vetoed by County Commissioners today and therefore was passed after the Counsel passed it Monday. Until this morning, it was expected that it would not pass because the majority of Commissioners (2 of 3) promised to veto it. Mike Repay of Hammond went against his promise to his constituents and the platform that he ran on and decided this morning not to veto it as he promised he would. If the Commissioners would have vetoed it 2 to 1, it would have gone back to the County Counsel (who approved it 4 to 3 Monday) who would have needed 5 of the 7 to override the Commissioners' veto. County Counsel member Christine Sid, who was seen as the swing vote, said publicly she would not change from a No vote to a Yes vote which was why many were expecting the tax to be voted down.

It will be 1.5% of income for those who live in Lake County and those who work in Lake County. Opinions welcome...

The last thing we need are the crooks running the county digging deeper into our empty pockets.

They will be back for more, that is for sure. The county will never stop overspending, and the next crisis will soon be here.

I hope the lazy voters remember Mr. Repay big lie next election time............
