I'm looking for some help from the locals!

My husband is in talks with a job in westville, IN (at Purdue North). I'm a nurse but when I looked into local hospitals, it didn't seem like they had many jobs listed on their sites. So, good hospitals to work for, hospitals to avoid? (Would love to hear from some in the healthcare field).

Also, we want to rent a house. Good places to look? Nice houses for cheap rent? Any other words of wisdom?
Thanks!!

We lived in Valpo early this century It's an easy commute to Westville from there. Porter Memorial is a small hosptial, but I liked it (I had my second child there).

There is also a hospital in LaPorte, which is East of Westville. It's about the same driving distance as Valpo.

Isn't a new hospital going up in Valpo next year? I remember seeing a sign for it on 49.

Really??? Wow!!! Porter Memorial was great for me, but it is old and where it sits isn't very conducive for traffic.

I think it is supposed to be at 49 and 6 or something like that. The sign is on 49 and Burlington Beach rd. I haven't noticed if it is still up or not. Hopefully it is still going forward.

North Valpo, that's interesting. With the way Portage is growing, along with Chesterton, that makes sense to build another hospital in Porter County.

The city of Michigan is about 20 minutes or so from Westville, and they have a few huge hospitals. Then you have the opition of the prisons that are really close, Westville correctional facility, and the state prison Michigan city which of course is in Michigan which again is only about 20 minutes from westville.

Uhm just wanted to clarify as someone might be mislead.
Michigan City is in INDIANA not Michigan. I haven't
lived there in over 20 years but do go back about
once a year to Westville.
