My wife and I have been offered jobs in central Oahu and will be heading out soon. Super psyched except for the amount that needs to get done in such a short time.

We would like to get some sort of short term housing as we want to be able to look around at our options for where to live before signing a lease. Does anyone have any suggestions for short term housing (1-2 months) in or around the Mililani area? The most we would be able to pay would be around $2000 each month.

Hotels are definitely an option but there don't seem to be any in central Oahu and few that would allow for a reasonable drive to Mililani.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Derek

Hi derekac,

There's a vacation rental place many have talked about on here: VRBO® is Vacation Rentals By Owner (http://www.vrbo.com/ - broken link)

I saw one for Mililani, but it was very expensive. You could stay near Mililani (Pearl Harbor, Aiea, Salt Lake, Pearl Ridge).

Good luck!

I second VRBO; don't let the prices scare you. I would offer 50% of what they are asking for; things are tough here now and as William Shatner says "negotiate".

I've never had a problem renting via VRBO but I would be cautious about ponying up too much money up front. Deposit to hold, a portion maybe 2 weeks out and the remainder when you arrive. If it will be for a month or more you can dole it out accordingly.
