I'm considering moving back to Hawaii with my mother, younger sister and my deaf aunt. We moved to Oahu 3 yrs ago with the intention of staying permanently, however, we needed to come back to NY b/c my two older siblings (who had stayed in NY) were having troubles. Now we want to move again to Oahu, this time for good, no question about it. I know my mom will move back to her hometown of Honolulu, but I don't know if I should go with her...I am a freshman in college, having completed one semester...she wants to move within the next month or two, and considering all the moves we have done in my lifetime, she is capable of anything. We are so nomadic, but I know Hawaii is home. I know it will be difficult to get on our feet, but we always manage. My question is, should I withdraw from college to make this move, work for a year and gain residency and then apply to college? Or should I transfer straight to a college there, costing me more as an out-of-state student? I am already set with classes for next semester...Is it worth the risk?
I don't even have a major declared, I feel like I'm floating aimlessly in college, accruing debt from bill after loan after loan...so maybe a year off would be good? I guess I just want to hear someone agree with me instead of saying "STAY IN SCHOOL!".... I love Hawaii; I love the culture, the ocean, the lifestyle...I have tons of family there (even though I don't associate with most of them), and I fit in well last time I was there probably b/c I am part Filipino... Should I make the move with my mom (meaning withdrawing from school asap)?
I like to look at things as "you only have one life, make it an adventure" type deal...but would it be just plain stupid? Thanks for any input!
