Agreed. This is highly variable.

And since I am one of those people who is highly allergic to cats, and who will insist that your cat be immediately removed from the cabin even if you have previous permission to bring it on board, please just plan to ship it in cargo in any case.

Sorry, but this is one situation where I feel my rights to a flight free of obvious health hazards should prevail.

Default advice on moving pets

Thanks so much! I appreciate the input & advice you have offered. I will definitely call. I started a web link data sheet with info on each airline, so I can keep up to date info.

Mahalo!

Capacity controls for animals is soly at the descretion of the air carrier and they change it based on aircraft and other factors all the time. Just like they can decide tommorrow to let a limited number of pets incabin to Hawaii. Since it changes all the time based on many things including weather, prepaid freight, or simply because they want too, you ned to be in touch with them to get CURRENT tarriffs and conditions and not based on what happend 10 years, 3 years, 9 months, 1 week or even yesterday. You alsio have to remember that even if they allow 12 animals per aircarft, they may have a standing order for 5 of those slots, have confirmed paid bookings for another 4, have a hold for 1 more, and that leaves only 2 slots left over. The sooner you can make a confirmed and paid reservation, the less chances of being turned away.
Agree 100%, and re-confirm a day or two before the flight. Just in case.

Most airlines have up to date pet information, but don't make your flight reservation online...book it through the airline's customer service and verify their pet policy.

Just some tips......Alaska airlines wont take animals at all, but they have an aircargo for pets that you can use. I have found Hawaiian airlines to be the best for pet travel.

Pets - Cargo Special Handling - Hawaiian Airlines
