What is the job market like now at Oahu?

Is it getting worst?

You have to be more specific to get a very meaningful answer. Job market in what field, with what level of experience? There are some differences. Like construction trades are starting to look up due to a big new Army project. Tourist related jobs were trending up a little until the tsunami, now they're off again.

But yeah, if you want a really general answer, it sucks.

To be a little more objective, according to the most recent government figures, unemployment is about the same, at 6.3 percent across the islands.
Hawaii's unemployment rate unchanged at 6.3 percent in February - Hawaii News - Staradvertiser.com

This is actually better than most states are doing (we're 8th best, national average is 8.9 percent), although it's high by historical standards for the state.

I know Kaiser is hiring

I've found the job market out here to be very good.

Your main disadvantage is they are not likely to hire you because they dont live here.
Given two resumes and one guy is already here, which one would you pick?

Oahu and the outer islands are entirely different stories.
Oahu's million people messes up the employment stats for the rest of the islands.

Nursing, doctors, etc. are in high demand on all of the islands.
Temp agencies are always advertising numerous openings.
It would be a good way to get a start.

hint - DON'T pay any fees to ANY temp agency, for any job.
