Of all the cities in the world (could be in any country), which one reminded you the most of Honolulu in terms of appearance, climate and feel?
Thanks
I've thought about San Diego, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taipei, as vibrant seaside cities with infrastructure that go beyond catering to tourism but decided against mostly because of their surrounding waters so I would go with Cebu.

Funny... I'm from Cebu And until last year have lived in San Diego.
But anyway, hubby is from Hawaii and we go visit his family every year... and I've always told him how it reminds me of home... he used to disagree with me and said it's much better. I told him it is because it's not a 3rd world country... but just looking at the structures, the scenery, the beaches, the weather (Hawaii is slightly cooler though)... it's not that much different. Only in the past 3 years has he admitted that Hawaii is looking more and more rundown... which makes the Cebu = Hawaii comparison much closer. He had to look closely to notice that everything is not what he remembers or used to be... that with the economy and everything, everything is just becoming old and worn out.

Glad to hear somebody from Cebu and very familiar wih Hawaii confirm my impression . We've only visited Cebu a few times(although having cebuano relatives on my mom's side I wish I visited more) as compared to Honolulu but like you said good weather, stunning beaches/sceneries, very nice people and lifestyle, all close to city life are very similar to Honolulu.
We lived(for 12 yrs) in the Seattle and SF Bay Area prior to my current work stint in Asia but when it's time to move back to the U.S., we're hoping it would be Honolulu since it's the closest U.S. city to the types of places we enjoy like Cebu.
Many Pacific Ocean places slightly remind me of Hawaii. Particularly looking at photos of Suva, Fiji, etc.
But of the places that I've been....Naha, Okinawa, Japan...since it has so many banyan trees, and similar block colorful types of housing....built in a way that seems kind of similar.
Interesting about Cebu. What about the horrible rainy season and typhoons/tropical storms? I've heard about cities in Philippines with perfect weather like Hawai'i but where...? I would so move to the Philippines if such a place exists there...
