Re: pets, I briefly considered finding new homes for my cats before the move, because of the quarantine procedures and the expense/hassle, but I quickly decided I was absolutely not giving them up. With the economy the way it is, a lot of pets are being abandoned and shelters are overrun - when I got my two cats I planned to have them for the duration of their life, and that is just the way it has to be. They're coming with me.

My dogs moved with me from Massachusetts to Florida to Hawaii to Syracuse NY. Them not coming with me is never an option in my book. It irks me to no end when people give up their pets because they're "moving to a place that doesn't allow them."

I love my dogs so much that my spouse is going to HI to start his new job 3+ months ahead of my arrival, and I'm staying behind so that my dogs can serve their 120 days at home and can enter HI without suffering quarantine.

Debby, that is great - I am lucky that my sister is going to take my two cats for the 2+months they have left of quarantine time so they can qualify for the immediate release.
