Whtviper1: nice numbers, but they don't add up. Plus where's the link? Your hand counting doesn't, um, count.
Back on topic: I'm surprised it's so few. Lots of military contractors and civilian workers as well, though those are a mixed bag: not all are military-like (whatever that is), nor are they all transferred here. Also, reserve and nat'l guard tend to be local.
What is with everyone and links all of a sudden, jeez.
As a military dependent living in the Salt Lake area, I see quite a bit, obviously. Salt Lake/Red Hill has a couple of huge military housing areas that are not on bases and also of course the proximity to Pearl Harbor and Hickam, obviously going to be a lot. But I work in Town and would guess that no one would recognize me as a military dependent. My husband looks military even when he is not dressed in uniform but while I certaintly don't look hawaiian, or necessarily local, I do blend in pretty well so my guess is military folks aren't going to stand out while not in uniform.
But go hit the Target in Salt Lake and you'll be surrounded. You just won't know you are.
....my question is why do you want to know? are you a terrorist plotting a move? a military person could be standing right in front of you and you wouldn't know it unless they were in uniform. example: 3 guys, all bald, wearing sunglasses. one black, one white, one hawaiian filipino chinese mix...... tell me which one is military? could be one, none, or all 3..... One could be army, one could be navy and one could be hawaii national guard. Or they all could be civilians. what is the point of your original question?
