I'm picking up my two sons (age 7 and 9) for spring break and will have about an 8 hour layover before my flight back with them. Looking for a beach to go to with decent public bathrooms/shower/changing station and not too many homeless people camped nearby. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ko Olina is clean, and will give you more of a Resort feeling. The protected coves there are very nice.
If you don't mind a few Homeless People here and there...Ala Moana is closer to the Airport and you can go to the Mall for lunch. You could take the Bus from the Airport ($2.50 per person each way) rather than having to take another form of transportation from the Airport. There are restrictions on luggage on the bus, so you may want to check on that.
If you want to go to Waikiki there is a shuttle service that charges $15 per person each way to and from the Airport. PM me if you want more details.
Thanks for the replys, distance is not an issue, I rent a car because my boys are in schofield barracks.
I had heard that Ko Olina was tough to park at if you didn't get there early in the day, I'm looking at mid afternoon times.
Weekdays aren't hard to park at Ko Olina. On weekends sometimes it fills up. If you were to do lunch at the Mariott they will validate at their garage.
My friends take their little ones to the Disney place Ko Olina. Hope the traffic doesn't delay you, but coming from Schofield (we were at the commissary today) you can make a right out the gate and go straight down to Ft.Weaver... I think that's faster?
You can also pay $10 and park at the marina at lagoon 4
