Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a nice, SAFE and CLEAN place to stay in Hawaii; I'll be in Honolulu in June. Know this-I am a hotel "queen"-not in a bad way, I just don't like dirty places or bidget motels, ala Bates types . If this is any indication-I bring my own linen everywhere I go, so call me a germaphobe if you wish (). Amenities are important-fridge, microwave, door locks. Female traveling alone (with a few co-workers), but still basically alone for the first 2 days before work begins. Prefer a place near the airport, but not so close that I can hear them every time they take off or land. Budget is small-under $100 a night. Won't have a car for two days. Can I get around to see the beauty without one? Not a water lover, so beach is not necessary. Just need clean and safe. Need to be near good food-nothing fancy, but good. National fast food chains would work fine, lol! Never been and have heard it's especially expensive. Is this true? I live in DC, so expensive is probably relative-lol! Also, anyone have any info on Kaneohe? I have to go there for a few days too. Thanks to all who give of your time to answer and offer help!

Can't recommend clean place, but can say don't stay at Queen Kapiolani, Park Shore or Ewa Hotel. Oahu is so small you can drive from Honolulu or Waikiki to Kaneohe and back every day and not have to get a place to stay in Kaneohe.

Home | Pagoda Hotel

They have kitchenette units for 1 and 2 bedroom units. I don't know about a $100 bucks a night but check them out (maybe for single).

Pagoda Hotel is centrally located and a secure place to stay. It's more of a business person place to stay as opposed to the tourist hotels (or that's how it use to be).

I have nothing for you on Kaneohe except the bus does go everywhere and it would maybe take about an hour max to get to Kaneohe from Honolulu by bus. I don't know; it's been awhile since I've been in that area and I always had a car.

Good luck to you (sounds like fun).

Hi DrDC!

I grew up in Kaneohe (now live in Los Angeles and go back all the time to visit). What kind of things are you interested in Kaneohe? If you want to see something unique, take a visit to Byodo-in Temple, a replica of a Japanese temple in Uji, Japan. There's also a wonderful botanical garden, Ho'omaluhia. Could give other suggestions depending on what you like to do -- no beaches :-)

Thanks Davidwebguy. Since I'm coming for business, I'll only have a couple of days for myself-actually only one since one of these days is a travel day. Whatever you suggest will be fine.
