Seems that things do not change. Reviewing CL ads for housing, reflects old lease rentals 50 years ago construction, and many appear to be shipping crate styles of wood and "quaint", aka "cozy" in the ads. Too, usually the motel cat walk style apts all have carpet(??) versus ceramic or wood floors for cooler/cleaner daily life and upkeep, w/o wear patterns to consider after a few months. Coin central washers/dryers vs "in unit" hookups. All are priced at levels way above anywhere. " Quality" of housing would mitigate high costs IF available, but certainly are an attraction for those interested in
living history circa 1960-70. Living in Oahu several years ago, near Diamond Head, the places now , often seem the same island wide. A desire to retire may not be a practical selection there, after the continuing spiral....see the recent article that reflects a similar one several weeks ago. " Hope for Change"?? Coupled with moving and set up costs for new folks, or returnees, gloomy.

http: //money.msn.com/retirement-plan/c_galleryregular.aspx?cp-documentid=250957756 Honolulu At first, it sounds lovely to retire to Hawaii and enjoy perpetually pleasant weather and ocean breezes. There are also some tax perks for retirees, including the ability to subtract Social Security benefits from your federal adjusted gross income, and retirement account distributions derived from employer contributions to pensions and profit-sharing plans are tax-exempt. But living in Hawaii is a far different experience than vacationing there. "We are far from anywhere, so to fly anywhere is much more costly. You don't have the option of driving six hours to be somewhere completely different. That really gets to people sometimes," says Lesley Brey, a certified financial planner for LJ Brey Inc., in Hawaii. "There are lots of things that are more expensive. Food is more expensive here. Housing tends to be much more expensive than people are used to." Senior citizens 60 and older spend $2,118 per month on housing if they have a mortgage and $539 in other monthly costs if they have paid off their house. The typical retiree renter pays $953 per month. If you end up needing an assisted-living facility, it will cost you a median of $3,815 per month, and a semiprivate room in a nursing home in Honolulu costs a median of $303 per day.

The typical retiree renter pays $953 a month? That's way to low. They must mean X2 with each person paying that.

No meaningful post title, no paragraph breaks, possible copypasta, TLDR (made my eyes hurt). Try again?

Yeah, there should be an automatic paragraph break built into the forum software after 4 or 5 lines.

I just skip over postings that are too difficult on the eyes, figuring if the poster cares about getting a maximum of replies, they'll post a more inviting layout.

But, to each their own style, which is a good thing about life... and posting.
