Almost ready for the relocation. Midwesterner getting a job transfer to Oahu. Have read many forums and looked at Housing/Appt cost for the past two months. Will be working in most of the hospitals in Honolulu so will be driving in on a daily basis but the good news is I don’t have a clock to punch so I can leave early or late to beat the rush hour. I must say I don’t like to listen to air traffic coming in and going out of the International airport so Ewa was crossed off my list. The next least expensive and practical area would be Mililani. Looking for all the experience on the site to give me an idea of what part of the town to choose. Realistically looking around 1700 a month. Would love a house with a garage but probably settle for a nice two bedroom apartment. Will be renting in early September. For those who have lived around Mililani what’s the best area?

Thanks in advance....

I would avoid Mililani Tech Park, it's in a valley - the dampness causes mildew.

I like Mililani Mauka best, becuase it's newer - but I doubt you will find a place with a garage for $1700/month. Maybe the Nohona townhouses.

Mililani is nice too. You can probably find a house with a garage. Or a nice townhouse with a 2-car carport.

Yes I figured that price is to low for a house. Thanks for the tip and I will search creigslist for Mililani Mauka and look.
