In 1973, the "Point After" had a $7 or $8 cover charge for guys, and ladies were free. That price kept me out, because that was a lot of money, back when well drinks were often 50 cents each.
Now, I'm sure that would be prohibited by discrimination laws. It would have to be something like "anyone in a dress is free". (Hello MuMus! Anyone remember those?)
A lot of bars (like the one at the top of the Ilikai) allowed girls to wear flip flops, but not guys. We had to wear dressy shoes. My girlfriend was welcomed in, and I was turned away.
Of course, we both left...I had the money!

I liked to sit at the Hale Koa Beach bar.. It wasn't too busy and the people were always friendly. Great views too!

All of my other favorites are noisy and crowded..

I miss Waikiki!! Have fun!!

Take a drive out to Haleiwa and sit at Aloha Joes bar. Great people! Or drive further to the Turtle Bay Hilton Bar!!

I am really not much of a bar person. Spent too many years working in them. No, I am not a stripper. But I have protected many!

My favorite bar in Waikiki is the Shore Bird. You can have a drink or two and then cook yourself a steak or an Ahi Kabob on their grill. They also have drink specials from noon till 5 pm. The view from the Shore Bird is AMAZING!!!
