"Australian golfer Robert Allenby says he was robbed, beaten and dumped in a park after missing the cut in the Sony Open, leaving him with cuts and a deep scrape on his forehead."
...after he was separated from his caddie in a WINE BAR....
A wine bar? That's a new one. So, I was sipping wine with a good friend and my caddie, and y'know, sipped my wine a little too much, and the next thing you know...!!
The entire thing is odd and all the national networks are running with it.
This wasn't his first trip to Amuse (which isn't anywhere near his hotel and its "ok" but not all that special). Kapiolani Blvd that time of night gets a bit sketchy that time at night with all the hostess bars.
He refused to go to the hospital.
He refused a drug test (therefore a drugs may or may not been involved).
He viewed surveillance video but has no clue who the people are he left with - yet, remembers the rest of the night.
It's just odd.
And I'm sure the tourism bureau isn't thrilled. Many news sites referring to the place as Waikiki and it's not - it is right by Ala Moana.
He also wouldn't give any news interviews to the local news stations. But he sure gave stories to the Mainland and Australian news agencies.
It is a strange story, and Kapiolani Blvd in the middle of the night is not known a must see destination.

Thanks for the update.
Kapiolani and Waikiki, very different already. That puts more into context.
Do you think he was perhaps sexually assaulted? That's a leap but not a big one considering he was drugged at a bar. A tox screen might show something he didn't want publicized, like he was partaking of illegal activities (weed, whites and wine...).
Lots of victims choose not to report.
