I've been to Oahu twice, 6 weeks total (from Boston). I love it.
Waikiki Beach is currently my 2nd favorite iconic tourist beach I've ever been to, with Orient Beach in St Maarten as #1.
Lanikai Beach was gorgeous.
Climbing Diamond Head and the views was great.
Totally enjoyed the nightlife in Chinatown.
Climbing up Koko Head Crater had spectacular views and was an awesome workout.
Seeing the turtles on the North Shore was sweet.
Keawaula Beach at the end of 93 was private and quiet.
Walking the streets of Honolulu was fun.
Pearl Harbor and the Arizona is history.
The Punchbowl also is history and a story.
Paradise Cove Luau was a blast.
Driving around the edge of the island offered so many photographic stops.
Driving the H3 and Pali Hwy were both great transitions from one part of the island to the other.
The shrimp trucks on the North Shore - SO good.
My point? Why compare? Oahu brings a lot to the table. Want to be a tourist, then be one. Want some city life, you've got it. Want more private beaches and smaller towns, got it. Homeless? Yes I saw a lot, but see as many in NYC and other cities. It's a city. Tons of food and drink choices. Plenty of shopping. I hope to go again someday.
