make sure you check out job availability first, rangerduke08 before moving back. if you ARE able to secure a teaching position in hilo, i'd say that hilo would be a great place to be albeit this is a biased opinion. just don't forget that it's a "different" type of living on the biggest island.

Kani-lehua, I understand since it's like 1 school Hilo, versus 4 Chaminade, Pacific, Hawaii, BYU on Oahu. I don't mind both but what is the "difference" your talking about? I like sailing and country living but I like mountains too, Honolulu just seems too much of a city and touristy for me.
I do have a question though, I am non-partisan, if anything more specifically Libertarian so I would run as a Republican over Democrat if there is a need to specify an affiliation ... it seems all the congressman and senators have always been Democrats, is the governorship (possibly councilman) the only position(s) that a Republican can win office in Hawaii?
Location: not sure, but there's a hell of a lot of water around here!

You might want to run on the Spamunist Ticket, it's gained a great deal of support here in Hawaii since 1937 or so, is non-biased, group oriented, has a key support group, and is easy to open with the proper technique, just remember, clockwise...........

Here's something I wrote on that subject over a year ago:

the difference i was referring to was about a slower pace of life/country style living.

sorry. i'm not sure how to answer your inquiry on regarding party affiliations and running for an office.
Generally Democrats win elections much more frequently than Republicans, at least in Hawaii. Personally, I can't really tell the difference between them, but some folks can.
