It would seem to reason that beyond Oahu's large population skewing the unemployment numbers for the rest of the state, that so many people have left for the mainland to look for work, that those people are no longer counted as unemployed in Hawaii.
If one reads local Hawaii forums you will notice that people are leaving, often.
Just browsing local ads for moving sales is sobering. Most say "moving to mainland".
