How's the Public Transportation around Oahu and around the island?
Is it good enough to not have a car?
Thanks

General consensus here is that it is excellent. Here is their web site, from which you can find schedules, fares, etc:

TheBus Home Page

Judging from the numer of people I see waiting at the bus stops in Kailua on work-days, lots of folks use TheBus for regular commuting. $40 bucks a month is lots less than a car payment plus insurance plus gas.

I think it depends a lot on where you live and where you work. Right now we're renting our house in Kailua (one block to a bus stop) to a family where the husband works downtown. They have one car, but he rides the bus every day and likes it.

Thanks Hank
Seems the biggest challenge would be shopping at Costco for groceries and figuring out a way to get them home.

Default Da Bus

When I was a teenager I didn't even like catching the bus around Oahu. So my opinion is a big "no" on catching the bus. I remember spending a long time at the bus stop and if you forgot something and had to run back home you'd have to wait a whole hour before another bus would show up. Of course I lived in Wahiawa Heights...so that could explain why the bus only showed up every hour. Ha.
Anyway I just didn't like living by a bus schedule and lot's of times it was so crowded I'd have to stand for thirty to forty minutes. Yawn.....
But money wise it's the way to go. Time wise.....not so much.
