yeah, i'm from IL. i am in college so i have lived in cheap, crappy old houses for the past four years. i have actually never lived in an apt lol really only b/c i have a dog and it's easier w/ a yard, but she is staying in IL w/ my parents at least until christmas so i can figure everything out and get settled. (and i have heard that dogs are not all that welcome in hawaii) i know I am going to pay more (probably more than double, my rent right now $300 lol) for less space but i've been looking at apt prices so i have a general idea of prices. i have been trying to get as much information as i can so i can go into this w/ my eyes wide open.
My family is all from Hawaii and i was born there but my parents moved us when we were little to washington state-but i've been back many times and lived for the summer house sitting for family and honestly if your chill and like going to local places for food, beaches, etc. you will meet really nice people and be fine. I'm actually moving to Honolulu area in June 2010 with my best friend-i've wanted to go back and live for so long and can't wait! you'll love it, it really is just a cool atmosphere.
