Honolulu is different than the outer islands. Admin jobs are few and far between but generally pay only $30-$50k in Hawaii. If you want to build your career quickly, work for one of the major banks, in Ohio. You could be making $80-$100K in 2-4 years. I used to manage a team of techs for a major bank and I hired newbies with no experience at 40k.
I have an auntie who worked for a bank in Honolulu for 15 years.
