My husband and I are looking to move North, and we are considering Ocala or Gainesville. I have family in Port Saint Lucie, Florida and don't want to sever the chord before they're ready. We figured that would be the farthest we could go so far.

Anyway, we're looking for somewhere quiet. We're in our early twenties, but we don't like to party or drink or anything like that. We would need a good church, and jobs. We have a larger dog, so apartments wouldn't work for us. Is there anything in the area that's like that?

Ocala is a quiet town and there are still beautiful horse farms around. Close to Gainesville and Orlando for more entertainment. All your necessities are here, restaurants, movie theater, it is safer than south FL from hurricanes. There are your usual churches here. I suggest you check out the church/religion you are interested in online. Please look for a job before you move here because there aren't many open positions. Unemployment is higher here. Lots of houses for sale and sorry I don't know about any apartments or condos. Please do research online to get a feel for housing. It is a nice town. Good luck.

My husband and I lived there a few years ago. We were in our late 20s at the time and a fairly quiet couple, no kids, one little dog. We found a small townhouse type apartment to rent in the SW side right near the mall. The location was great because we were right near all the shops, some chain restaurants, and 75. You should be able to find a house to rent with no problems. We really loved living in Ocala however the job situation is not so good. I would recommend researching jobs before you go so that you know what to expect. I ended up working for UF and commuting to Gainesville every day. I loved working at UF. I miss Ocala and we can't wait to get back down there someday.
