Nyc is hotter and worse - also maybe it was just me.

I've never had such a lack of fresh air as I have in Florida. My health has gotten worse here. The reward for when the heat lets up- Snowbird season, increased prices & rude people who are terrible drivers.

This was a rather disappointing post... We've always been in FL around Christmas. From the time I was a little girl my family would vacation there. Then my parents became snowbirds in 1982 and every year my husband and I went to FL for Christmas. But we've lived in Middle TN, in Spring Hill, the last 20 years, which is south of Nashville/Franklin. It gets REALLY HOT here in the summers!!! I find it hard to believe my husband and I would not continue going out every day to shop, eat out, etc. There's no way that the weather would keep us indoors...

I realize there will be snowbirds. But I hope that if I'm a nice friendly person they will be nice back. Why are they there if they are miserable and rude to the locals??? That wouldn't be very smart! Middle TN is a big tourist area. We're sitting in Starbucks right now and from the tags on cars outside there are people around us from other states. Everyone is happy and friendly. I'm planning and hoping it's the same in Ocala.

Absolutely correct. A small percentage of people who live or visit Ocala think differently. Haters got to hate.

I live just south or Knoxville and am looking to retire to FL and the heat and humidity are no worse, just last longer. But much better winters, so it is worth it. TN is great, but cold is not.

As long as you love living indoors 9 month a year it's certainly tolerable. I live south of Ocala and we get a sea breeze and this was our heat index this year.. Imagine inland with no breeze. That's Ocala summers.

The mean daily wind speed averages between 4 and 6mph throughout the year in Ocala, FL. This is just barely enough to be felt on one's skin at sea level on the Beaufort scale.
