I live in north Lake county. My wife and I saw a brown snake about 6' long. The Florida brown snake is not supposed to be that long. Any suggestions on what it could be. We did not get a good look at the head. I will get a photo next time I see it!

Hard to say without more information.

I found a picture of an Eastern Coachwhip snake. Might be a possibility.

The link below is for Florida snakes.

It will not include any non-native snake smuggled in as it upsets the eco-system

When in doubt, kill it. It never hurts to kill a snake.

That is a very narrow minded statement. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

I ran across a big indigo snake and mistakenly killed it (with my truck). What do indigo snakes love to eat? Rattlesnakes! Yeah wish that big snake was still around.
