Davery, you're wasting your time.

I'll just say that Texas has no state income tax and is running a massive $27 billion deficit. If that's "a lot better" for you, than I guess you can have it.

Having no state tax is usually the result of bond issuance. The problem is, those bonds mature and must be paid off. That's the reason why OH has a state income tax in the first place -- we're paying for the bonds that were issued under James A. Rhodes. That's right, we're still paying for them 40-some years later.

Last time I checked bottom 40% of Americans owned something like 0.4% of nation' wealth and earned something like 4% in income. Note, most of the folks at the bottom of 40% EARN their money by selling 8+ hrs of their life at (below) poverty rates. Regardless of a moral stance on the issue, what this rightwing "welfareless" paradise of yours would achieve practically speaking in a Banana Republic USA where bulk of the wealth is concentrated at the top?

OK, OK, you got your welfareless Darwinian dream come true, bottom 40% ceased to exist, assuming you are in the top 60%, you would have whopping 0.4% & 4% to split, that's surely would solve every problem under the Sun. And since you would discover pretty soon that your relative wealth is a direct result of the bottom 40% selling their arses for much less than you sell yours for; your education, skills & smarts, hard working self are absolutely secondary to the existence of the ones who "work for less" so you could be relatively wealthier. What's next?

Sure, we're already cutting to the bone and complaining that we can't even afford to pay cops, teachers, and fire fighters properly, why not cut a massive revenue stream while we're at it?

Bulk of the "welfare" $ don't stay at the bottom, as soon as a check is received it's spent and the money flows up, up and up to provide good middle class jobs & upper class fortunes as well as salaries for cops, teachers and firefighters. It could be your job too.

Besides, whatever you save on welfare you'll spend on jails, cops, courts and lawyers. I feel everybody has a right to exist regardless of shareholders returns on investments and price of labor in China. If society denies people' right to exist, they owe nothing to that society (and you) and only repressive police action can keep them in check. As a rule, repressive apparatus is way more expensive than food stamps.
