Hello All

Thank you for reading. My husband is thinking about accepting a job offer in Portsmouth. The job would really be a GREAT opportunity. Currently we live in a nice city with about 30,000 people (nice amenities: parks, restaurants, theatre, stores, etc). It is close to Augusta, Ga so we can go to the "city" if we want in about 20 minutes.

We are looking for something similar where we could be close to Columbus but still live in a smaller city with great schools, family friendly parks, DIVERSITY, restaurants, etc.

I have two daughters and a big concern of mine is great schools. We really would like a city with some stellar school districts.

With that said, is there any thing like that on or close to Rt 23 (I have done a little research ) ?

I'm in the same boat, except I already accepted the job. I've traveled to Portsmouth three times and I can't find anywhere to rent. The apartments are really bad and the houses are very hard to come by.

I just made this suggestion to someone else, but have you guys looked into Chillicothe? Equal distance between Columbus and Portsmouth, and Chillicothe is big enough to have enough amenities.

Chillicothe has more to offer you than Portsmouth as far as amenities lived there in the late 70's loved the fall season the hills were alive in beautiful colors. Portsmouth has new schools and Shawnee State University... Shawnee Forest is nice in the fall also... the only shopping is the Super Wallyworld in New Boston.Waverly is smaller but is growing in my opinion since I worked there I believe they built new schools too.

My advice is if you can afford high rent why not buy...you can't go wrong with the low fixed rate and the prices are not that bad. There are plenty of homes for sale or up for auctions in the Portsmouth to Chillicothe areas that should catch your eye.

USEC ? Or Babcock Wilcox ? They called the Piketon uranium enrichment facility the Portsmouth Gaseous Disffusion Plant.

Or are you with the OSU crop program in Piketon?
