warren zee - enjoy Ohio! The lake is really fun in the summertime. I know you are in Warren, but certainly take a weekend stroll or grab a cabin. Vermilion has some nice cheap outages you guys could spend the weekend and a short travel to Cedar Point. Also, take advantage of the metro parks (emerald necklace). It's unique and sans across a lot of northeast Ohio.

Those sound like really good suggestions! We love to take weekend getaways! What cottages to you recommend and what is an Emerald Necklace?

Can't wait to go to Ceder Point!

Sheena - take a weekend trip to Cedar Point, stay at The Breakers (located on the CP peninsula) and take a boat tour of the Lake Erie Islands.

We go for a long weekend at CP at least a couple times every summer.

Sheena, the "Emerald Necklace" refers to the Cleveland Metroparks system of nature preserves. These lie in and around the city and are extensive, adding up to many thousands of acres of natural areas. The preserves are laid out to follow rivers and creeks through the area, so in addition to the usual bike paths and golf courses you get a lot of fishing and watersports opportunities.

And it's called the Emerald Necklace because they truly surround the Clevaland Metro area like a green necklace...they are beautiful and a very wonderful asset to Cleveland.

I will say all 3 major cities here in Ohio have wonderful Parks...Cleveland's takes the cake but Cincinnati and Columbus both have great park systems too.

Unsolicited advice from a native. Don't say that. No one will have a clue as to what you are talking about.

Ohio State doesn't really have a university system, like a New York or California. There's OSU in Columbus and they have a couple smaller branches that are basically community colleges In Newark, Lima and Marion and I think there is a few agricultural classes in Mansfield. These branches only have a thousand students or so.

Schools like Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio, Miami, Akron, etc.. are not associated with Ohio State at all. They aren't associated with each other either. They are all completey separate Universities which is different than a lot of states.

Glad you're moving here. You should like it.

And good thread. Nice to something positive on here for a change.

lols. Hope I didn't sound like a jerk.

It's just a common misconception that all universities fall under the direction of Ohio State.
