What is that about? I am moving for a year in July, and one of my children has respiratory issues. Thanks for any information!

Untrue. Bad air and water quality compared to what? Where did you hear this?

We have ozone alerts in the summer just like every other large city, but there isn't enough traffic or heavy industry here to generate tons of air pollution.

We do have lots of pollen and folks with allergies can have a rough go in the spring and fall.

I've never heard anything about our water or air quality being bad. I've lived in some much larger cities and the air here is nothing like them. As sooner said, there may be a few days in the summer when there will be ozone alerts, but they are not common by any means. The air is usually quite clear. There can be pollen problems during certain times of the year, however, I've found my allergies to be better since I moved here.
As far as the water is concerned, the only thing I've heard about is in some of the smaller outlying town that have old wells. In OKC and it's suburbs the water is fine. Its actually the first place I've lived in a many years where I didn't feel I needed to filter my water before drinking.

If your child is allergic to weed, tree and grass pollens then you are correct. Oklahoma sucks. Also, it's a dusty and dirty place. I grew up in OKC and am a life long asthmatic. Once I moved to Alaska all of my weed, tree and grass allergies were gone. Everytime I go back I'm sick again. Not a place I'd recommend for someone that has respiratory problems. Their ragweed pollen counts are offa the charts.

I don't know what you are all talking about. OKC water isn't that good if you are used to good tap water. I don't drink the tap water down here. In a study not done too long ago on cities in the US, a suburb of OKC, Norman, came in last in water quality. The air quality is pretty good though.

It's funny some people have allergies down here when I was in Michigan I had terrible allergies in the spring and summer but down here I'm fine. But the air and water seemms fine although all I drink is bottled water.

You've obliviously never lived in places in West Texas. The water here is like crystal spring water compared to there.

With Oklahoma, it will help some not to be dumb enough to move to the country where the ragweed grows thick, if allergic to it.

If Norman and Oklahoma City get their tap water from a source that doesn't have treated sewer water in it, that's a huge plus. Contrast that to Stillwater, in which the treated sewer water from Kansas towns big and small along the Arkansas River valley has been discharged into it. But that's the price to pay for getting a very reliable source of water not nearly as affected by extreme drought conditions.

I moved here 2.5 years ago. My wife read some articles that parts of the Norman area had bad water. You should be able to google that.

I moved here from Orlando and I was shocked at how bad my allergies are here compared to Florida. Oklahoma City is actually in the top 5 or 10 worst places for allergies in the US.
