The idea of room mate and not turning the heat on in winter may not result in savings.

Most of you paint winter in OK as a temporary nuisance. I have been through the power outages, completely iced over landscape including windows for days. Must be on the West side of OKC only

Because that is the exception and not the rule. OKC averages highsin the 40s and low 50s during the winter.

Granted we do get some cold, icy and snowy weather to bring that average down, we also get days in the 60s and even 70s in the winter.

No matter which way you skin that cat - since we moved here we had ice storms which shut down everything and that for days. No complaints here - stocked bar/pantry, fireplace, generator and stashed away a DVDs player and enough movies to make it to Spring.

It depends on where you live in Oklahoma. Stillwater rarely gets ice storms so severe that electricity is disrupted. I only remember one bad one in the last 20 years. And even that one that caused power to be off at work for only little more than an hour. Trying to see in the dim light of battery operated back up lights wasn't easy.

Jester seems to be working at OKC airport. Stillwater might not be an ideal location.
