I don't believe it. There are distinct differences between African Americans and Native Americans and African Americans aren't likely to claim otherwise.
There used to be an African American entertainer named Preacher... Preacher Smith, I think. I don't know if he is still alive, but word would get out about where he and his group were performing and crowds gathered. He had a great sax player. There would be mixed audiences having a good time. There was never any trouble that I was aware of.
