Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Is there a connection between the name "Maduro" and the Cherokee word «аta» - young woman?

The name of the Venezuelan President Maduro perhaps is derived from the Bashkir word «матур» (matur) – beautiful, handsome.
This Bashkir word in the French and English language, you can see in the words mature, matured, maturity, maturation.
English word maturity is derived from the Bashkir phrase «матур итеү» (matur ity) - to make beautiful.
More likely the name of the Venezuelan President Maduro is derived from the Tuva word «маадыр» (maadyr) – a hero.
The Tuva word «маадыр» (madyr) – a hero, is derived from the Bashkir word «батыр» (Batyr) – (epic) hero; hercules.

Bashkir language is Proto-Nostratic language.

The OP was from 2011. So I suppose the only question here is whether or not the Cherokee Nation will hold another language class this year in Tahlequah, or will it be elsewhere?

The only language I've ever heard my Cherokee relatives speak is English. I need to ask them if they are doing anything to keep their language alive, so that would be my question.

Sure they do. Several school districts in Oklahoma offer Cherokee language classes and the tribe offers online classes. The Cherokee alphabet is even available on the iPhone now.
