I just saw the most wonderful house on the internet in Arcadia. I know nothing of this town. Can anyone fill me in? Schools, distance from OKC, type of town, etc.? Your opinion of it? Thanks

Arcadia is a very small town east of Edmond on Route 66. It is about 7 miles from Arcadia to I-35. It would be an easy commute to OKC in my opinion.

It is where the famous round barn is located. It used to be about the only business in town, along with a cafe and a gas station. I noticed lately that several new businesses have gone in including a Subway.

Of course it is the town that Aubrey McClendon built the Pops store that opened this year.
POPS: Home

We stopped at Pops one day and it was so crowded we couldn't get a hamburger without a long wait, but it is a neat place, a new tourist attraction and popular with local people also.

As far as the schools, if the house is right in Arcadia, I think the schools could be Luther schools? I am not sure. West of Arcadia, starting at Anderson Road, the schools would be Edmond.

I have driven around in the town that is off Route 66. The houses are older and it is kind of a typical Oklahoma very small town. The town used to have a real reputation as a speed trap, so I am always careful to go the speed limit there.

Can we have a look at the house? Can you put up the photo? I am really curious.

Or this one? 115K 4bd/2bath. 2176 square feet on 2 acres. I like this one. That's a big house and not on a tiny little plot of land. I like the style too. The first one is interesting but kind of odd looking.

I'm thinking you may have just found your "spot" Colleen. Small town, close to Edmond (very, very, nice city), and not too pricey. Dang, I may check out Arcadia myself some day!

YES, THAT'S THE HOUSE!! I love it. It's so "different" from everything else we've looked at. I like the Parent Involvement 4 out of 5 stars. That usually makes a better school more than money or even the teachers.

hehe.. Don't worry, I'm no competition for now and won't be for several years... I really do like that house though. It's 97 years old but if it has been well maintained, there will not be any problems. In fact, most of those homes were built MUCH BETTER than the houses of today. And, with it being so old, you can pretty much be assured that there have been many updates to the house over the years. I'm excited for you colleen. I would definitely put this house on your list of must sees.

Edmond is a VERY NICE city and apparently they have great schools. I've never seen a school yet that got a 10 out of a 10 rating. That's phenomenal.

Oh, I also like the wrap-around porch. Those are so neat.
